Day 3 – Monday, Aug 13 – Marais District Walking Tour & Louvre Museum: After breakfast, meet your guide at the hotel and board your luxury coach for your whistle-stop tour of Paris. Set off with your guide on a short walking tour of the Marais to wander through one of Paris’ oldest districts during this historical tour. Walk by the Pompidou Centre (Centre George Pompidou), which celebrates modern art. Its eye-catching exterior design has made it a top Paris attraction. During the stroll, your friendly guide will explain the fascinating history of this district.

The Marais was the site of the first Jewish settlement in Paris and continues to be the hub of the Jewish community today. See one of the best examples of Jewish culture in the Marais today – the cobbled Rue des Rosiers, home to Jewish bakeries, bookshops and kosher food outlets. Walk along this vibrant street with your guide, and make note of its popular cafes to come back to during your free time in Paris. Follow your guide through the narrow streets of the Marais, and continue to the Place des Vosges, one of the oldest squares in Paris and a highlight of the Marais.

It was once a royal park and is considered to be one of the most beautiful squares in Paris; it was also home to famous French writer Victor Hugo. Lunch on your own. In the afternoon, head toward the world famous Louvre Museum for a guided tour. As you make your way through the museum, listen to your guide about the fascinating history and significance of the many artistic masterpieces you encounter, from the iconic Greek statue Venus de Milo to the staggeringly large painting of The Coronation of Napoleon to Leonardo da Vinci’s famously enigmatic Mona Lisa.

Admire sculptures by Michelangelo and paintings by Raphael, Rubens and Rembrandt. View the Babylonian Code of Hammurabi and other ancient artifacts. There’s so much to see! At the end of your guided tour, you’re free to continue exploring the Musée du Louvre on your own or return with the coach to the hotel. (Breakfast provided)

Day 4 – Tuesday, Aug 14 – Versailles Castle & Orsay Museum: After breakfast, departure to the Château de Versailles. The Court of Versailles was the center of political power in France from 1682, when Louis XIV moved from Paris, until the royal family was forced to return to the capital in October 1789, after the beginning of the French Revolution. Versailles is; therefore, famous not only as an opulent royal dwelling, but as a symbol of the system of absolute monarchy of the Ancien Régime and its eventual downfall.

The Palace at Versailles is unrivalled, in perhaps the world, by the level of artistry on display in the appointments of its many salons and rooms. The attention to detail and opulence are truly astounding and a must-see. After the visit free time for lunch on your own before we return to Paris to visit the Orsay Museum. Discover the artists that paved the way for the French Impressionist art movement, such as Manet, Renoir, Cézanne, and Gauguin, and learn the secrets behind their techniques. Your guide will share facts and stories to help you better understand the significance of the many celebrated Impressionist and post-Impressionist pieces here. (Breakfast provided)
